November 30, 2009 – Primex Plastics Corporation announces the commercialization of a new line of thermoplastic elastomers marketed as their Faraprene® family of products.

Primex Plastics Corporation, working in conjunction with their subsidiary, O’Neil Color and Compound, announced today the commercialization of their new family of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). Primex will market their new line of TPEs under the name of Faraprene®.  Faraprene® is currently available in five grades with a variety of performance features to provide customers with the optimum TPE solution to fit their needs.

Faraprene® was designed to provide an economical solution for a wide variety of applications including, Automotive, RV, Marine, Packaging, Consumer products and Leisure. Featured characteristics of the   Faraprene® family of products include: Low gloss, soft flexible feel, High or low COF as required, good chemical resistance, improved scratch and mar, elastic recovery properties, good weatherability and ease of process.  Faraprene® is available in a variety of colors and textures including, Diamond Plate, Coin, Levant, Haircell, Smooth and carpet laminate. Faraprene® is a proprietary custom compound and may be tailored to fit specific customer requirements.

Acquisition of Gage Industries

July 18, 2008 – Primex Plastics Corporation (Primex) announced today that it has acquired the assets of the sheet extrusion business of Gage Industries, Inc. (Gage).  Founded in 1969 and based in Lake Oswego, Oregon, Gage’s sheet extrusion business manufactures custom ABS, polypropylene, polyethylene and PET sheet, serving the heavy truck, aftermarket automotive, consumer, technology, packaging and marine markets.

 “Gage’s product offering and customer base are a good fit with our organization,” said Mike Cramer, President of Primex.  “This acquisition will allow us to leverage our strengths in manufacturing and distribution to enhance the value to Gage’s customers.”  Primex plans to integrate Gage’s extrusion business with its Mesquite, Nevada facility following a transition period at Gage’s Lake Oswego, Oregon facility.

 Primex Plastics announces a new line of color concentrate for its High Impact Polystyrene line of products called Luminique.  The product line includes pearlescent, metallic and bright color concentrates.  It also includes a mirror finish black co-extruded sheet as a compliment to its colored styrene.  Luminique colors will be focused on the hard to match, color critical jobs that Primex Plastics customers require.  Primex Plastics has long been recognized as a leader in custom extruded sheet production beginning in 1965.

 The Luminique line of colors will enhance the customers’ ability to add value to their customers needs.  These new colors are free of heavy metals and can be used in high-end packaging, POP displays and signage among other applications.  Primex Plastics has additional plans to offer a wider array of color and special effects for other polymers as the Luminique line progresses.

Richmond, IN – Primex Plastics Corporation has entered into an exclusive initiative with RealTree/Advantage*. The program features a unique PVDF film, printed with the Advantage Wetlands camouflage pattern, that offers an adhesive system (patent pending) specifically designed for laminating polyethylene sheet.

Polyethylene is more cost effective than the higher priced ABS or TPO plastics. The new laminating technology with polyethylene is a lower cost alternative to expensive printing and coating processes. Polyethylene provides high durability, scratch resistance and excellent processing capabilities.

This advanced technology opens new markets for polyethylene. Any plastic outdoor, recreational, leisure, and hunting equipment/accessories are candidates for the Advantage Wetlands camouflage pattern.
