Slip Additives
Plastics can be naturally “tacky” and have a high coefficient friction (COF). This can cause processing or performance challenges like parts sticking to the mold during ejection or material adhering to itself. Slip additives are designed to migrate or bloom to the surface lowering the material’s COF.
Features and Applications
Generally, most slip additives cannot be made to meet FDA requirements. Primex Color, Compounding & Additives does have access to an FDA product that will work in most applications.
Applications for slip additives includes low COF sheet used in supermarkets to allow products to slide forward as they are removed from the shelves.
